Briefs

1) A promotion package for the release of an album, to include a music promo video, together with two of the following three options:

  • A (working) website homepage for the band;
  • A digipak for the album's release;
  • A magazine advertisement for the digipak

So this task is asking me to produce a music video, plus two of its advertisement products.
These include creating a website for the band, a leaflet (digipak) for the bands album and an advert in a magazine to advertise the CD and digipak.

http://www.newtonfaulkner.com/uk/ - This is the homepage of Newton Faulkner an acoustic artist, who has used bright vibrant colours, especially orange, which both reflects his ginger hair and is a colour often associated with the acoustic genre!

http://www.chloehowl.com/ - This is the homepage of Chloe Howl who is a recent artist of the pop genre. Her website is a lot more simple and bold, perhaps reflecting the bold and bright 'pop' genre, which always attempts to create an impact!

http://www.nattymusic.com/ - This is the homepage of Natty, who's music focuses around the reggae/pop genre. Reggae music and Jamaica seems to be a particular inspiration to this artist, who although comes from america, takes a vital role in both his music and webpage! It therefore features the Jamaican flag and has the colours of the flag as a major colour scheme for his page!

A digipak is a small programme/ leaflet which comes with the album, and gives the audience information and pictures on the band - these often include song lyrics to all the songs on their album.

2) A short film in its entirety, lasting approximately five minutes, which may be live action animated or a combination of both, together with two of the following three options:

  • A poster for the film;
  • A radio trailer for the film;
  • A film magazine review page featuring the film

This task is asking me to produce a short full film of any genre of my choice, plus two of its advertisement products.
These include a poster to advertise, a radio trailer to promote the film and a review page in a magazine which features the film.

HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHEONIX

  • Dark, low lit picture, implying that the film may be darker than usual Harry Potter Films. The one bright light in the darkness comes from behind Harry, our protagonist, shown by being in the centre - this light may show that he is the person that can overcome the power of the dark forces.
  • The focus on the image is drawn out to us as an audience, which may suggest that we are the enemy - all eyes are focused on us. This may also show that they stand as one - as an army. This can be backed up with the tagline - 'The Rebellion Begins'
  • The smoke/haze/fog behind may also connote that their journey may not be easy, and there may be obstacles along the way.
  • This poster suggests a genre of fantasy, sci-fi and thriller.

LIFE OF PI

  • The first thing that draws upon the audiences attention is the Tiger in this poster. This may show that the Tiger is the most important character of this film, and may be seen as a contradiction to usual films by having the Tiger over powering the man. Animal > Man. Emphasizing the tagline - 'Believe the Unbelievable'
  • From the poster, I think this shows the adventure genre, because of the colours used and the boat in the picture.
  • The key colours are yellow and orange, which suggests this may be a feel good film.

  1. Well done Jessie, the first student that I have marked so far who has actually engaged with the task!
