EVENU INSPIRATION

EVENU INSPIRATION

EVENU - "OWN WAY HOME"

In terms of a rock/ alternative band, I thought it would be good to look at some upcoming band videos, to be inspired by professional videos made with a lot less money than most music videos. This band, 'Evenu'  I discovered through the drummer who i met a couple of years ago and have ever since fallen in love with their music, so 'Evenu' have been a massive inspiration in the conventions of my own music video.
They have used a band with four members, including 2 on guitar, 1 bassist and 1 drummer.

The major reason that I found their music video to be such an inspiration was mainly because of the camera shots and angles that were used.

I wanted to get influences from a pre-existing band of a similar genre so  I could match the codes and conventions of the shots they used.

Evenu as a band uses a variety of different shots in their video and it gave me the inspiration we needed to use different shots to great success.

As you can see from the screenshots I have captured from their music video of "Own way home", they have used close ups of each of the different band members to signify that this isn't a solo artist and that every member is as important as each other. The band is a team effort and this is something I wanted to portray within my own 'Greenday' video.

The only person who gets extra close-ups and shots of them-self is the main singer, as this is a convention of band shots, in which the main singer always gains the star image and becomes the icon of the band.

Evenu has been a massive inspiration throughout my work and final music video as its useful to be influenced by real media texts in order to follow and adhere to the stereotypers and code and conventions of the genre, which I feel my video has done very successfully - creating a balanced piece between a strong narrative and impactful band shots.
